From the mouth of babes...

The babe here is my DD. Periodically she gives me these lessons in life culled from her wisdom...

She won't brook any excuses, she won't consider any Mum-suited options.....she has the solutions, and, since 'they work for me, so there's no reason they won't work for you' is her final word, it is in my own interest to force my aging grey cells to heed her.....

and

believe me-------------------------they work!!!!

Life's strange ways...

Randomly rambling...

If every moment is the most important moment of our lives, then stands to reason that we need to be IN every moment as if we had all the time in the world to be just there...

Today......................

Do something that is not on my to-do list................

To paraphrase Calvin - A day doesn't count unless you do at least one thing that is completely pointless!!!!!!

Sound delicious? try it  - it is as sinfully necessary as a pizza with double cheese and anchovy topping...

Randomly thinking...

Finally, it came to my head that when we talk of wholeness of mind and spirit and heart and soul, what is meant is that we have to reconcile all our stages of mental-emotional-psychological growth. We carry our emotions (and all the attending factors) from one stage of our life to the next and the next and the next till we are a bundle of emotions, and all pulling and tugging in all different directions - making us feel and respond  in a myriad ways. It is only when we harmonize our childhood with our young adulthood, with our older adulthood, with what we are today, that we become complete and whole as persons.... . This is NOT rationalizing - this is acknowledging - understanding - and accepting each stage and allowing them to peacefully segue into each other. We are not responsible for our environment when we were growing up, so we cannot either blame or praise it - but we can make sure that the good and bad times, the fortunate and unfortunate circumstances, what we had and what we didn't have, all find their rightful place in what we are today...the pattern will bring with it peace and serenity...

And so, just as it is extremely important that our mind/heart/soul and body move in sync, it is more-more-more than important to have all the parts of the mind/heart/soul peacefully coexist inside of us...

Been thinking...

When something hits at your primal self, your true self is revealed in your reaction. So, by nature if you are timid, though you may present a courageous front when offering help and advice to others, when your gut gets a blow, your timidity is what is going to be revealed in your first reactions...later you can get a grip on yourself and control your thoughts, emotions and feelings using your own advice.

Amazing...

It is absolutely astonishingly, amazingly, stupefyingly wonderful how my DD changes the whole environment of our home...all the cobwebs (metaphorically speaking) disappear, every teeny-weeny bit of darkness is banished. She turns everything inside out and on its head, and sprinkles her special brand of stardust on everything...and the whole home is full of her smiles, laughter and zest for living...

Beautiful clouds...

I love the rains, and think dark clouds, rain-filled winds, swaying trees looking dark green in the thundery light, are beautiful.

Dark clouds, though, in our own piece of sky signify sadness, tough times...

But Harold, in Harold's Planet has a different take (this was in my mailbox today - telepathic?!) -  he's taking out white clouds from a tray full of them, and nailing them in the sky, creating his own designer sky...

What a lovely thought---we too can take out all the lovely white clouds from our tray of memories, and our thoughts, arrange them just as we want, and make our sky beautiful!

Just thinking...

about something I read a few days back...

I've always been very interested in fashion and women's wear especially looking towards France and Italy...and i read that in these countries, the women, yes, they do pay a lot of attention to good grooming, but more importantly, are very self-confident - and it is this self-confidence that makes them look so smart and terrific, actually!

Which got me started on thinking about self-confidence...

An incident that I saw has stayed with me - there was this lady who was walking along the road, avoiding the zillion things that are usually found on our pavements. She was dressed for work, and it was very obvious from the way she carried herself that she was very proud of the way she had dressed, and the way she looked. A little ways along, she saw this man, whom she obviously knew, and smiled at him. He stopped, and don't know what he said to her, but I saw her completely wilt - her whole posture and mien changed. She walked on, but not the way she was walking earlier, but slowly, and as if she wanted to be invisible...It was such a sad, sad thing, and I cursed the man who had done this. I realized that so often, when women say nasty things to women, we can put it aside as bitchiness and not really bother - why then do we allow a man to demolish our confidence? But we do - world over, we do - because under the color of the skin we are all the same. Only thing is, in countries that are beautiful, you can look at natural beauty, and distract your mind, till you get your peace of mind, and stability, and confidence back - here if you look around, you only see more misery, more unhappiness, and nature made ugly...so there is nothing really to restore our good humor or our self-confidence -

It's very well to say that how we feel is in our hands-but fact is, we often do trip up - then a little help from Nature would help, or even from someone who cares--and if it is not there, then we do eventually get our self-confidence back, but at the cost of something....and that is the painful thing...

The morning beverage...

Coffee!!

I wonder if there are others for whom this wonderful, wake-me-up-start-my-day beverage is important, and the time surrounding the drinking of it, sacrosanct?

Actually, the importance of this brew has grown very slowly over the years. This had to be the only way to start the day. Then came the value of the specific bean, and quite simply, no other bean would do. And, then...........the coffee maker - it was only the cafetiere that finally worked........that gave the perfect brew.......that sent the hello-day! smell wafting round the home...

Add the brown sugar, and milk, and there it is...ready to get you going, ready to give you the assurance that here was the perfect day, all gift-wrapped just for you....
